Crafting When We Can Challenges #8 - Friendship

Once again Challenges #7 was full to the brim of wonderful enteries so a big thank you to all those who were able to join us.

Challenge #8 over at CWWCC is open until 7th January so there is plenty of time to get your entry in.

The theme this challenge is FRIENDSHIP

Our sponsor for challenge #8 is

Once again our sponsor allowed us to choose our own image and I chose EVA PEARL.  I thought she looked really good and I think I will get lots of use out of her.  I coloured here using Copics and Promarkers, popped her up on gold mirri card and punched the edges with a MS corner punch.  The background paper is from Free Paper Pad Challenges.  I made the sentiment myself using a new piece of equipment called Hot Foil Gun, it heats up and you can use it to write on things using different coloured foil.  It was my first time but I think it looks good and with practice I hope it will look really goo.  I also decided to make a bottle wrap to go around a bottle of wine to give to a Friend.
excuse the colours the printer ran out of ink and I didn't have time to do it again.
Now all you have to do is hop over to the Challenge and enter you project.  We accept any work as long as you follow the rules.

Crafting When We Can Challenges #7

Thank you to those of you who joined in our Female Birthday challenge last time, the entries were gorgeous.

Challenge #7 over at Crafting When We Can Challenges should be easy for you all to enter you have to choose a sketch from another challenge and use this.  You MUST credit the challenge you have taken the sketch from on your blog and then hop over to CWWCC and enter your card.

The sponsor generously let us choose any image we wanted off their site and I got 2 images and a sentiment and I only chose 1 image, how generous is that.  I won't keep you in suspense any longer our sponsor this challenge is...

The image I chose is 'Checking the List' I thought she was sooo cute checking her long, long list of nice children (and adults too!).  The sketch came from 'Sketch N Stash' their sponsor this week is Meljen Designs.

I know brown isn't a usual colour for Christmas but I've had these papers for a couple of years now and have only used them a couple of times.  The image was coloured with Promarkers and Copics, Spellbinders for the mats, the papers are from Paper Cellar, the sentiment is from Craftwork Cards and the little gold parcels are from the tables at last years works Christmas Party the ribbon was around a box of Chocolates.

Free Paper Pad Challenge #8 - Vintage Papers

Here is my entry to Pascale's Free Paper Pad Challenges.  This week Pascale has given us some lovely vintage papers to play with.  I have scrapped a picture of our Christmas Tree as usual I have used CA.

We only put the tree up 12 days before Christmas so the children know they don't have long to wait before they get their presents, nowadays they usually know what the main present will be as it is something they usually ask for but we always try to sneak in a few stocking fillers.  They have had their stockings since they were babies and we always have to put something in them, we also have to fill the tiny Thomas the Tank Engine stocking (it's about  6" long we can usually fit in a couple of bags of chocolate money).

just like buses, they come in 3s

The title alludes to the fact I seem to either don't post for ages or I have 3 things to post.  Today I am posting a card I made for Free Paper Pad Challenges.  Pascale gives a prize to anyone who enters as she offers wonderful free papers.  I didn't realise I had missed a week (time flies as they say) but I will still be using the papers as they are soooo different.  I'm thinking along the lines of a Scrap page so will have to have a think.

Paper by Free Paper Pad Challenges and Christmas Pudding image by Pink Gem Designs, composed on CA and coloured with Copics, red pearls free with my turny thing from C&C.

I've just noticed I haven't coloured my currants, better get the card back out of the box and colour them in now.

Monday 14 November 2011

AAAAGGGGHHHHHH only 40 days to Christmas!!!!

I've made this card using blue and white paper and and an image from Pink Gem Designs and I am entering it into the A Gem of a Challenge #34. and the backing paper is from the Paper Christmas kit from CA.  The image was coloured with Promarkers and snowflakes punched with a MS punch, sentiment from Craftworks.

If you look closely you will notice the blue and white card actually has butterflies on it but as I couldn't be bothered to change my glasses to the ones I use for close work I thought they were funky snowflakes, it wasn't until I was sticking it all together I noticed but hey ho I'm sticking to funky snowflakes if anyone asks.  I'm also trying to decorate the inside of my cards as well as using inserts.

Off to do some altering now, I'm helping out with the costumes for the Panto my daughter's in in December.  Yeah more pictures to scrap.  Have a great week and think Happy Thoughts.

Crafting When We Can Challenges #6 - Female Birthday

All the entries for the spooky/abc were great, we have some very talented people out there in blog land and the winners will be announced soon over on the challenge blog.

This fortnight over on Crafting When We Can Challenges we have a simple theme it's 'Female Birthday'.  You can use any image and create any project as long as it follows the theme.

Our rules are simple 1, follow the theme 2, no backlinking 3, max enteries, 4, link to the challenge blog 5, max of 5 challenges.

Our Sponsor this challenge is Stretch n Bubbles.  There is a bio of Alison the owner over on the challenge blog.

I chose the image of Marcy holding a cupcake.  Her little ballet shoes reminded me of my daughter when she was little.  The buns she used to have looked enormous in her hands just like this one does on Marcy.  I coloured her with Whisper pens, cut out with a Nellie die and shaded with DI.  The cupcake and backing paper are from a 360 sheet pad by K & CO and the sparkles are free from a turny thing I bought from C&C.

CHALLENGES

My Partner in Crafting Crime #35 - Use a freebie (the image was a freebie from the sponsor)
Shelly's Images TTT - Show the inside of your card
Stampin with the Dragon - Food for thought

Snowman Winter Wishes

Just remembered to post my card for Pascale's Paper Pad Challenge.  I have used the free Polka Dot papers for my background and 3 of Dustin Pikes images and they were coloured with Promarkers and Copics the white highlights with an Inksential pen.  The circular sentiment is from Craftworks.  I've printed the papers flat using my CAS and highlighted the edges with a Sakura silver pen.  The circle and images were popped up using foam pads.  I am also entering this card in to Lothian Crafts Challenge #20 - Christmas.

Crafting When We Can Challenges #5 - Halloween or anything but a card

Hi everyone, I've been really bad this week.  I got all my days mixed up and forgot to do my  DT for Crafting When We Can Challenges.  I always have good intentions of doing it early but something always seems to happen and I end up being a last minute loony.

This week we are asking for Halloween or Anything But A Card.  I have had this idea since I saw the image I was given.  I am hoping to hang it on my back door just in case we get any little callers.  (We haven't had any trick or treaters for about 3 yrs my kids think it's great as they get to share the sweets).

Our Sponsors this week is Poodle Doodle and you can get their stamps from
My image this Challenge is Elsie Halloween 002  I know Elsie is holding pumpkin and a bird but I wanted to hang something on the door for Halloween and so I coloured her green and stuck her on a cobweb with some bats and 'trick or treat', all cut on my Craftrobo.  At the mo it is stuck on my living room wall until I can think of a way to stick it to the door.  I think I can find one of those sucker thingys off an old car child shade.

Blakeney Point

I've been having another go with CraftArtist digital scrap-booking and here is a page of my children (when they used to get on) looking at the flora and fauna on Blakeney Point just off the Norfolk coast.  I added the large cut out photo of the kids after I had used one of the templates from the kit but I couldn't get it to stay on top of the pebbles so I just sat trying buttons when I found out it would stay if I added it as another layer and then added another piece of driftwood over his legs.  I still don't really know how I did it but I like how it looks and I will keep trying and eventually it will sink in.

Have a great weekend and don't forget to hop over and enter the Crafting When We Can Challenges #4 - Christmas Come Early

Crafting When We Can Challenges #4 - Christmas Come Early

Thank you to all who entered last week challenge, I hope you enjoyed the bingo card as much as I did.

This weeks challenge is 'Christmas Come Early'.  I'm hoping this will give me the kick start I need to start mine earlier this year.  I am one of those who tend to leave it until half way through December before I start, then I have to post them 1st class to make sure they get there and that cost me a fortune last year.

Our sponsor, Tickled Pink Stamps, let us choose our own image for this challenge and I chose 'Lil Victorian Christmas Lolita Kellita' I think this is such a versatile image and cannot only be used at Christmas.

Our Sponsor this week

This week my card was a joint effort by my daughter and I.  When my daughter saw the image she just had to have a copy to colour in.  She used Promarkers and chose the colours herself.  I decided to try watercolouring in my image, big mistake, the inkjet edges bled an spoilt the image so as my daughter had made such a good job of colouring in her image I asked if I could use it.  The background papers are from Dezinaworld and look much more vibrant IRL.  I used stickles to highlight the flourishes and lights.  I think this image is so versatile it could be used for loads of things, get well, happy birthday, love you.

Hop over to the Challenge blog and join in I'm sure in the next 2 weeks you'll be making at least 1 card you will be able to enter.

Monday 10 October 2011

OH NO I've been podded!!!

Do you remember 'Invasion of the Bodysnatchers' where people were cloned by the aliens and kept in cocoons or pea pods as we called them.  Well I think this must be the clone me as I have posted 3 times in as many days and the real me would never do that.  I know 2 have been scheduled but at least it means I have 3 things to show which is a minor miracle in its self.

Today I am entering a scrapbook page into Sketches by Carly as usual I used various papers from various digikits in the CraftArtist program.  This time I was practising with cutting shapes.  Carly is having a DT call at the moment if you want to enter hop over here.

Sunday 9 October 2011

2 in a row, what's happening???

As it says in the title I have managed to make 2 posts in a row.  I am not making the same mistake I made last week when I thought I had posted and didn't so I am scheduling this post and hopefully it will remind me to enter my card into the challenge over at Paper Pad Challenge.

This week Pascale has given us some really nice Steampunk pages to use.  I used my CraftArtist program to lay one page onto the other and then play with the transparency button so you could see both papers.  I then used the cutout studio to take the background from a Dustin Pike image called Steamdudley, then skewed a clockface from a digikit called 'kicking the leaves'.  I used promarker and copics to colour in Dudley and black soot DI to colour the base card and edge of the mat.  I highlighted the edge of the mat and clockface with a Sakura calligraphy pen and then rubbed it with my inky finger (I always have inky fingers after using any type of ink) to dull down the gold.  Here is the result I just need to think of something witty to put as a sentiment, any input will be gratefully received.

Saturday 8 October 2011

Where did last week go?

Where did last week go, I don't seem to have done anything but haven't had time to do anything either, I don't know where the time went.

Today I am going to post a scrapbook page I made using the free papers from Paper Pad Challenge which Pascale gave us last week.  I thought I had already done this and when I went to check on this weeks challenge I found I hadn't.  Anyway here it is, the photo is from a Geocaching trip we had to York last year.  Isn't it amazing the things you don't look up and no-one points them out to you.  This little devil is at the side of a shop door on Stoneygate.

Crafting When We Can Challenges #3 - Bingo Card

It's challenge #3 over at Crafting When We Can Challenges and I hope you will be able to join us.  The theme for challenge 3 is a Bingo Card.  The idea behind the bingo card if you don't know is you chose 3 items off the card in a line (horizontal, vertical or diagonal).
click on card to go to challenge
Our sponsors

This week our sponsor kindly let us choose an image from their store and I chose Halen in Wreath.  I was going to make him into a wreath to hang on the door/wall but as other members of the DT chose the same line I decided to make a card instead using the vertical centre line 'Happy' sentiment, distressing & pearls.
The plain green and red paper is from my stash I don't know the manufacturer but I got it from a local craft shop (who also does online sales) Craftden Studios, the patterned paper is from K&Co. the sentiment is from Craftworks and I used Copics and Promarkers to colour the cute image.  I used my Craft Robo to cut out the poinsettia in the corner and put yellow pearls (which came in the drawers of a white spinney pen holder from Create and Craft).  I popped up the wreath with pads and layered up Halen and the bow then stuck the sentiment as if Halen is holding it.

I am really enjoying making cards again, being on the DT has really brought back my enjoyment in crafting.

Today me and my OH should be sorting out some more stuff from the bedroom so I can put my new desk up and hopefully move some of my craft stuff up there.  My Craft Robo and Big Shot are already there and now I don't have to keep stretching up to get them hopefully they will be used alot more.  NO not HOPEFULLY, they will DEFINITELY be used more.

Hope you are all having a fantastic weekend, it's been one of my best for a long time.

Paper Pad Challenge #1 - Sketch

Pascale over at My Craft Heaven is starting a new Paper Pad Challenge.  As part of this challenge she is giving away 4 great freebie backing papers to use and a sketch to follow.

Here is my contribution to the challenge.  I have lots of this type of photo and I thought the papers would look great with it.  I used CraftArtist (bet you couldn't have guessed) the leaves and font are from a digikit, Harvest Delights.

Hope you have all had a fantastic weekend. :-) xx

Dezinaworld Spot Prize Challenge - Autumn/Fall & Lace

Just a quick post to show off my entry into Dezinaworld's Spot Prize Challenge the theme is Autumn/Fall & Lace.  I used one of June's freebie backgrounds (gorgeous colours) and I knew what I wanted to scrap as soon as I saw it.  The photos are of my son and daughter's carved pumpkins from last year.  I think I should be OK with these pictures after all October is in Autumn.  The silhouettes, lace and frames are from the 'Spooktacular' digikit from Daisytrail.

CRAFTING WHEN WE CAN CHALLENGE #2 - SKETCH & FAIRYTALE

What a great response we had to our first challenge, nearly 300 entries.  Thank you to all that participated I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

This week we were given the choice of fantastic images from
As long as we kept with the fairytale theme we could chose our own image so I chose Beauty and the Beast which I think is a lovely fairytale.  I have printed the image onto a background from CraftArtist (Haberdashery Christmas digikit) and coloured it with Promarkers and Copics.  I then used the sketch and layered the DPs from the Best of K&Co Too paper pad (360 papers :-O so many papers) matted with red papermania and red roses from my stash.
#2 - SKETCH & FAIRYTALE
I think this would make a cool engagment/wedding/anniversary card.  "Will you be the Beauty to my Beast".

Hop over to the challenge and link up your fantastic creations, please read the rules as we want everyone to be in with a chance to win the wonderful prizes on offer and while you're there hop over to the other DTs blogs and have a look around.  You won't be disappointed.

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend, I'm off to do some more washing and hoping the little bit of sunshine and wind we have at the moment dries it.

CRAFTING WHEN WE CAN CHALLENGE #1 - ANYTHING GOES

I hope you are all as excited as I am about our new challenge.  To make it nice and easy for the first challenge we are having an "Anything Goes" so I hope you will all hop over and link up your card.

We have 10 DT members 5 from the Creative Cowgirl Challenge and 5 new members and if you click here you can go the the page where all their blogs are listed. If you have time, sit with a coffee and explore the fantastic work they do.

This challenge we were given a fantastic image to use by our Sponsor

My image is called 'Hot Date' and I loved colouring this image in.
I printed the Fresh Brewed Design image, sentiment and background (from the Daisytrail digikit Modern Lace) using my Craftartist software (told you I love this software).  I then coloured the image with my copics.  I tried my best to use shading and I think it worked really well I love the way the greys have blended and the shaping I got on the bodice of the red dress (I hope the designer doesn't mind her image having boobs).  I designed this card with the intention of it being flat so it would be cheap to post and then forgot and put dewdrops on the corners.  I may take these off and swap for card candy which would be flatter.

I will be posting more now I have some incentive to craft, I have already made quite a few cards for a car boot sale my daughters Musical Group is having and I have already coloured the image for the next Crafting when we can challenge.  My OH has thrown out a load of stuff he didn't need and cleared me some space in the bedroom so I can have my Craftrobo and Big Shot out so I don't have to keep reaching on top of the bookcase to    get them down.

Hopefully by the time you are reading this we will be at the cinema watching 'monkeys in trousers' for some reason my kids really want to see 'Rising of the Planet of the Apes'.

having problems and a reminder

I hope everyone in the UK is having a great long weekend, and to those who have to work, a big THANK YOU.  I would just like to say I haven't been around much as I am having problems loading pages from the internet so I cannot see people blogs.  I am scheduling this page and hoping that it appears as I will be holding my OH's legs while he replaces the boards on the dormer window surrounds.  I offered to tie a rope around his neck to stop him falling but he politely declined this offer.  (I offered to tie it around his neck as I think this would give him the incentive to be very careful and not to fall out of the window).

I would also like to remind everyone that
 Sunday, 4th September
will see the launch of the new challenge
I hope you will be able to join us, it will be lots of fun.

Happy Yuletide

Here is my first Christmas card.  I know it is digital but I think I may do a hybrid card, which means dissecting the items and printing them out separately and then putting them back together to make an actual physical card.  Or I may just try printing it out onto card and seeing how that looks or I may do both mmm thems choices!

The background is from Dezinaworld as is the gorgeous image which June is giving away as a 24hr freebie, there are 9 free images on the sheet and they will all make gorgeous Chrismas cards.  Hop over and grab the page before it disappears back into the shop.  The rest of the embellishments are from the CraftArtist package.

I hope you're having a great week and can't wait to hop around and see what you have created.

Don't forget Crafting When We Can Challenges are having a DT call.  Hop over and check it out we have some awesome sponsors lined up.

Daddy's Little Girl

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.  Mine's not been too bad so far, spent too much money but don't know what on (do you ever wonder where the money went when you empty your bags)  on the plus side my OH is finally decorating the bathroom (I won't tell you how long I've been waiting).  It has gloss white woodwork and it should have warm lilac walls when he's finished.

Anyhoo onto my posting.  As I have already mentioned I have been practising with my CraftArtist program and am going to show you one of my favourite pages so far.  I had forgotten about this photo so when I found it I just had to scrap it.  My daughter is now 12½ and catching her on camera is very difficult I get plenty of hair and hands but not much face and I don't know why 'cause I think she's beautiful.  Here is a gorgeous photo of her and her Dad at Wentworth Gardens which is inside Wentworth Garden Centre, near Sheffield.
It's very purple because I was practising with the colour catcher and used colours from her trousers and stripy top.

DON'T FORGET WE ARE HAVING A DT CALL OVER AT THE NEW CHALLENGE BLOG CRAFTING WHEN WE CAN HOP OVER AND CHECK IT OUT.

Dezinaworld Spot Prize Challenge - GOLDEN

Another entry to June's Dezinaworld Spot Prize Challenge, this month the theme is GOLDEN.  This can be interpreted however you wish.  I have gone for 'Golden Moments'.  Any time my children are having fun together is a 'golden moment' I have digitally scrapped a time when the children were playing on a beach in North Norfolk near Cromer.  I know I don't have a picture of them together as they were digging holes in the sand.  I have used one of Dezinaworld's pictures in the middle of the pages because it reminds me of my kids and I think it suited the theme, you don't have to use any of Dezinaworld's images but if you do it makes June a very happy bunny.  I have used my Serif CraftArtist program.  I am really enjoying this software and I am in the process of adding some of my photos to make embellishments to go with my pages.  I've done loads of pages and when I have enough confidence in them I will post them here.

Dezinaworld Spot Prize Challenge goes Monthly!!

Hi everyone, here is another entry to Dezinaworld's Spot Prize Challenge.  June has changed this challenge to every month so you have plenty of time to enter.  You don't have to use on of Dezinaworld's images but if you do it makes June really happy and being the generous person she is you will find she gives away a lot of freebies for you to use if you wish.  You don't have to use digital either it's just at the moment it is easier for me to use my computer than get all my equipment out (ohh err) to craft with paper & pen.  Anyhoo the theme for June is Green & Purple.  I have used the background and image from collage sheets from Dezinaworld and the flourishes, butterfly, flowers etc. are from the Serif CraftArtist CD.  I really love playing with this program and learn something new everytime (that's when I can find out where the pallets and things have disappeared to, naughty wandering fingers pressing things they shouldn't).
I hope everyone had a great weekend and didn't get too wet.  We managed to miss the showers and only got the sunshine.

Dezinaworld Spot Prize Challenge - Celebrate Your Homeland

Here is my entry for Dezinaworld's Spot Prize Challenge.  The theme is 'Celebrate Your Homeland' and what better way to celebrate than to make a scrapbook page of the beautiful countryside about 10mins drive from my house.  There are 3 pictures altogether which I have cobbled together into a panorama.  I did this in my new CraftArtist program.  There are so many different things in this program I don't think I will ever be able to use them all.  I have added a .png balloon from one of Dezinaworld's steampunk collage sheets.

Monday 6 June 2011

Just playing around at Dezinaworld Spot Prize Challenge

Just a quick post so I can enter the Spot Prize at Dezinaworld.  The challenge is to take an everyday object and change the colour to something it isn't. ???? I've confused myself now but if you look at the picture I think it will make sense and June explains it so much better than me here
I've used a steampunk frame, woven backing paper, ducks and steampunk heart and hat from different collage sheets from Dezinaworld, the flower is one I made for an ATC a while ago.  I put them all in Paintshop Pro and played around with the colours.  I made his hat pink but I think I should have used blue but I can't be bother to change it now.  Off to enter this before I forget.  Happy Crafting everyone.

Creative Cowgirls Challenge #15 - Summertime Fun

I hope everyone has had a good 2 weeks since the last time I posted.  We've just started getting the nice weather here and I think everyone is starting to feel happier that Summer is here at last.

This fortnight the challenge at Creative Cowgirls shows this with the theme of 'Summertime Fun'.

We were given some fabulous images by our sponsor Chi Chi Memories and I was given an image from the set called 'Meaning of Love' and when I saw it I knew exactly what paper I was going to use.  The paper was from the DCWV stack 6 and some pink papermania colour card.  I used a Victorian velvet DI to colour the white card to match the trees on the paper.  The image was coloured with Promarkers on pearlized card and then copied and decoupaged (I hope you can see this on the picture).

Our Sponsor this challenge is

The winner will receive 3 images of their choice

Just a quick Challenge post this time.  The Creative Cowgirls Challenge is 'Getting Jiggy' it's all about the dance.  Our wonderful sponsor, Tellen's Place Designs gave us some images to use and I got the fantastic Skull boy n girl.  I coloured the great image using Copics and Promarkers, the backing papers were from Creative Cottage, Little Monkey's Pirate Adventure and the Skull was a clipart from MS Publisher which was cut out and layered.  I edged all the mats with peel offs coloured with black Promarker.

Creative Cowgirls Challenge #13 - Anything Goes

All back to normal now after the double long weekend, kids back at school and work back to normal.  Then another long weekend to disrupt the flow in about 3 weeks, I only hope this good weather continues.

The challenge this week over at the Creative Cowgirls Challenge is Anything Goes, so I hope all you who visit take a little time and hop over to enter.

This challenge we were given images from the talented Michelle Perkett, mine is called 'Birthday Packages with Hearts' and can be found on her Etsy site by clicking on the link.
I have made my background by colouring with DIs and stamping with a CC stamp from a Cute Companion Christmas set.  You can't see it on this photo but I have layer the image, there are 3 layers on the yellow, 2 on the blue and 1 on the green I then wrapped the parcels in ribbon and made a 4 layer bow to put on the top (it looks more effective in real life).  The image was coloured with Promarkers and Copics. The sentiment is part of the image but I printed it separately and the 3 parcels are cut from the top of the pile.  This is the second card I have made with this image as I lost the topper I orignally made.  If I find it I may make another card to post later.

Creative Cowgirls Challenge #12 - Mum/Mom's Day/Spring

As our Challenge is based in America and it's Mother's Day over there our theme this fortnight is Mother's Day/Spring.  We were given some very beautiful images from Prairie Fairy to use.  I received In a Nutshell to use and I loved this image so much I coloured in 4 of the images so I can use them at a later date.  As a bonus we will also be sponsored by Crafty Ribbons

We are also having a Guest Designer this challenge.  Hop over to the Challenge blog to see Bridget's gorgeous work.

For my card I used Prairie Fairy 'In a Nut Shell' with backing papers from a CC flower fairy CD and flowers from stash, all edges highlighted by a Sakura Silver Calligraphy pen.  I had a nightmare with this card as I couldn't find my double sided tape or tape pen so had to use a glue pen which wouldn't stick.  I about to get out the flour and water when I found some wide double sided tape.  I eased the layers off, of which there are plenty, and stuck them down again with the tape.  I also realised I had printed my image slightly too big for my mats and I wasn't feeling too great I couldn't be bothered to print it again. By this time the light was fading, hence the rubbish picture.
